Gleeso spared the axe!

FOURTH ESTATE NEWS:

Controversial journalist Peter Gleeson will keep his new job as a 4BC announcer despite the management at the Brisbane radio station discovering that parts of his CV for the job were plagiarised.

The man affectionately known in the craft of journalism as “Gleeso” told The Bug this morning: “I’m not sure how the work history of other journalists made it into my CV for the 4BC gig but my new bosses there have accepted my explanation that it wasn’t intentional.”

Gleeson will temporarily replace Neil Breen, the station’s weekday afternoon drive show host, who leaves the position on June 23 after three years to spend more time with his family in Sydney.

Gleeson left the employ of The Courier-Mail and also quit as a Sky News After Dark presenter in late November after three separate cases of plagiarism were exposed in that month alone.

In welcoming Gleeson to the station, Nine Entertainment Co. chair Peter Costello said he had to balance repeated claims of plagiarism by the senior scribe during his past working life against his clearly displayed, redhot hatred of left-wing politics in general and the Annastacia Palaszczuk state Labor government in particular.

“A 16-page hatchet job Peter did at The Courier-Mail on the tired, out-of-puff and out-of-ideas Palaszczuk government last year was brilliant, especially as a fair swag of it was his own work,” Costello told us.

“We also had to factor in the reality that potential shock jocks of Peter’s calibre with an ingrained hatred of all things Labor, the union movement, softcock socialism, tree huggers, climate-change alarmists and inner-city, soy-latte-sipping woke jokes don’t come along every day of the week.

“Besides, we’ve accepted his explanation that he has never used other journalists’ work on purpose.”

Gleeson said he had given 4BC management an assurance that everything he said on air would come out of his own mouth and no-one else’s.

And even if it eventually did, it would not be intentional.
