AVIATION NEWS:
A Brisbane man is suing Qantas after the airline rejected his bid to take advantage of its new offer for passengers to buy an extra seat to enjoy a “neighbour-free” flight.

Frequent flyer and high-class gigolo, Al Timeter, said he had launched a claim against Qantas because its neighbour-free seat program was misleading and inadequate.
“My job as a gigolo takes me all over the nation so I fly a lot to numerous destinations every week and I’m very familiar with all the major roots,” Mr Timeter said.
“But over the years Qantas, like other airlines, has packed more economy seats into their aircraft to make more money per flight. The seat rows are just too close together which has made flying a very cramped experience.
“In recent times there’s been so little room between each row of seats that after each flight I can’t stretch out my legs at all. (main picture)
“When it comes to enjoying a neighbour-free flight, my preference would be to have extra room in front of me so I can actually stretch my legs.
“That’s why I recently tried to book a neighbour-free seat, but I wanted to book the seat in front of mine, not the one next to it.
“I argued that once I bought that seat it could be removed by Qantas staff so I could have lots of leg room. But they point-blank refused and that’s why I’m suing them.
“I’ll be arguing that Qantas is infringing my rights, not to mention my health, as well as diminishing my ability to earn a living as a rent boy – or rent pensioner in my case – because it’s difficult for me to ‘perform’ when I’m curled up like a human pretzel,” Mr Timeter said.
A Qantas spokesperson said the airline would be strongly defending the legal action and denied its economy seat rows were too close together.
“Our outgoing CEO Alan Joyce has always personally tested seating space in the economy sections of our Qantas aircraft and he has always found that he has tonnes of legroom,” the spokesperson said.
