Time for Aunty to take a stand

While the mainstream mediocre’s pathetic pile-on of Stan Grant for having the temerity to offer a contrary view to the general loveathon surrounding the coronation is the focus of this week’s tweet-of-the-week winner from RonniSalt (top and below), it sparked a general debate as to why Aunty has any of these faux-journalists on its shows in the first place.

And it’s a very valid question, isn’t it? If so many of the so-called politics writers/commentators/analysts from Newscorpse and various Nine Entertainment Co. platforms insist on coming across over and over again as blatant, unapologetic, LNP publicists, why should the national broadcaster give them a platform for their views?

Would any decent, reasonable, person who believes the cornerstone of the craft of journalism should be balance, fairness and honesty, blame Aunty one iota for deciding not to have repulsive sloths like James Campbell or “Written and spoken Phillip Coorey for the Liberal Party of Australia” on Insiders, Q&A, etc.

Why shouldn’t the board of the taxpayer-funded broadcaster regularly assess the work of these LNP apologists and say: “No thank you; not right now”?

If they looked at shit like this, for example…

Victoria Fielding and Lefty, the latter in discussion with GregMarSci, pushed the more general theme, picking on Newscorpse in particular…

… while no-one was more to the point than Paul!

Aaron Dodd, Vote Yes. addressed that particular contradiction, namely the term “News Corp journalist” while Mike Carlton gave us a history lesson behind the Murdochs’ hatred of the ABC.

Let’s take a brief break from tweets getting stuck into Australia’s lamentable mainstream mediocre for just a wee while and have some fun with Prue MacSween instead.

Take it away, Wild Colonial Girl, TOM RED and The Artful Bunny!

Okay, back to the media and someone mentioned earier, the incomparable Phillip Coorey, who has never blushed once when trying to con people into voting Liberal by pushing the absolute nonsense that if our two main parties are neck and neck in primary votes, a disastrous hung parliament is on the cards. Pure bullshit, Coorey knows it but he will forever spread it.

Take it away, Greg Jericho and Peter Murphy.

Prof Jenny Hocking and Tony Koch traded thoughts on a claimed production blunder at the Oz that beggars belief…

… while Rupert’s Conscience Votes Yes took a three-pronged pitchfork to the Dirty Digger.

Rupert’s Conscience! Who said the oxymoron was dead as a literary device let alone a Twitter handle!

Finally, let’s finish with this comment from Peter FitzSimons.
