FOURTH-ESTATE SHAKEUP:
Australian Broadcasting Corporation chair Ita Buttrose has just announced that the national broadcaster will implement an immediate ban on almost all mainstream media politics writers from its various current affairs programs.
Ms Buttrose made the shock call on the ABC’s News Breakfast program (above) and the shows involved include the Sunday Insiders program and any Monday night Q&A taping.
“The ban obviously includes all NewsCorp Australia politics writers and commentators as they have long since stopped being true journalists,” she said.
Without mentioning names, she simply pointed to the camera various front pages from the likes of The Courier-Mail, the Daily Telegraph and the Herald Sun (pictured below)
“Why would any organisation committed to quality, professional, objective journalism provide a forum for LNP apologists like these cunts?
“Rupert Murdoch has a bloody lot to answer for but of course it’s not just News Corp. Nine Entertainment Co newspapers and their radio shock jocks are just as bad and, really, would you want on a panel a bloke like Phillip Coorey who election after election tries to convince us that if the two major parties are neck and neck, a hung parliament and chaos is inevitable so it’s best everyone votes Liberal.
“Why the fuck would you have on any of our programs a goose who either has no idea of our preferential voting system or, worse, deliberately ignores the Greens vote to push his own rightwing political agenda?
“And don’t get me started on what these dreadful “news” organisations have done to our dear friend Stan Grant, who we have protected and supported from the get-go. We really have.
“No, from now on, our programs will be inviting real journalists from some of the independent news outlets. You’ll be seeing a lot more of decent, competent and fair journalists like Amy Remeikis who always speaks with such knowledge and as an added bonus also loves to flash her…”
It was at this exact moment that security guards crash-tackled the woman claiming to be Ita Buttrose to the floor as co-presenters Lisa Millar and Madeleine Morris looked on stunned.
Moments later, they located the real Ita Buttrose bound but unharmed in her boardroom office.
