Victoria’s Police Commissioner Shane Patton (main picture) yesterday led a formal apology to the state’s indigenous community for past incidents of poor treatment of them at the hands of police.
“I formally and unreservedly apologise” for police actions that had cause trauma to indigenous families, the Commish said.
Unfortunately, on SBS Late News last night either the TelePrompTer or the newsreader translated that as “an undeserved apology”.
A viewer who witnessed it thought an apology for that might be needed.

We have been contacted by a follower of The Bug who was sitting at hone recently… sorry, sitting at home quietly reading the ABC’s story of that young Brisbane chap evacuated by private plane from Taiwan after falling ill from ingesting what is suspected to be rat poison. (below)

The story said that come commentators “have honed in on the initial speculation that he may have ingested the rat poison from tainted street food …”. (below)

Our follower accepts that our English language is sometimes influenced, or bastardised more correctly, by terms that are accepted in North America but still feels the ABC should resist such trends. (Good luck with that, we say.)
He said he was contemplating sending the ABC a message urging them to correct the line but had not yet decided whether to email them, write a letter, or send a note by honing pigeon.
