News that Qantas CEO Alan Joyce was leaving the position later this year provided this week’s The Bug tweet of the week winner.
Our judges had no hesitation in selecting Solo Monk’s lovely little take on tings (above and below).

Before we leave the man who was paid, so, so much to trash a once-Aiminproud brand name, here’s Paul Syvret’s stinging take on the departure announcement in a response to Mark Di Stefano.

Justin Brash was one of many who picked up on a certain disparity regarding Ms Hudson’s starting salary. It seems it will be sizeably less than that of Alan Joyce (pictured below) when he first began his dismantling/fleet grounding/staff sacking duties.

While that glass ceiling is slowly being breached, it seems the gender pay packet gap continues unabated in some high-flying industries.
Okay, let’s get it over with. The pomp and ceremony is over and the cheers of the subservient British people have died down, so we’ll only run one tweet on that matter. Take it away Rudy Terwilliger.

The Dudster Spudster, aka the federal Opposition Leader, continues to draw flak on The Bug‘s twitterfeed and SlurryNewsAust threw together some wonderfully creative and image-shaping words.

normboy562 also fired away at Dutton, who in an interview with the ABC’s Patricia Karvelas managed to call Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and his government corrupt at least four times. While Karvelas was pinged by the Twitterarti for not pulling Dutton up, others lauded a shock tactic clearly designed to draw attention away from the fact that the Victorian Liberals are trying their damnest not to be a viable alternative government for at least the next decade. Or two.

Sue Travers tweeted on the news that Scott Morrison (remember him?) in his last year in office funnelled more than $20 billion of our money to his privateer mates, all part of his obsession of making governments smaller and poorer and his mates richer.

Small government does indeed come at a massive cost, Sue. But to be fair, Morrison always made it clear he wasn’t all that interested in government, Australian-style, derided it after his election loss and never, ever, hid his desire to do as little as possible as PM.
In that vein, Mike Dowling-VoteYES, etc, etc, stated things rather plainly.

The past week also brought the news that Brother Stuart Robert would be leaving politics with Justin Brash having his spray. Yes, Justin gets a deserved second mention.

Many, many tweets – it would have been unfair to single any one out – also pondered on whether Brother Stu’s departure had anything to do with the imminent release of the Robodebt Royal Commission findings or the fact that the National Anti-Corruption Commission begins its naccering work in a few months.
Tony Abbott’s opposition to The Voice caught the attention of Rick…

… while simon holmes a court and some chap called Tony Windsor shared their thoughts on Angus “I can’t comment because I don’t have the details!” Taylor.

Back on The Voice briefly. Bruce Williams is one of a number of people posting this wonderful meme of a lot of NO! faces, thus providing a compelling reason to vote YES! at the referendum. Well done to Pic Stitch, whoever you are.

Finally, although we used this on a recent media post, we thought this tweet from an eagle-eyed Terry Sweetman was worth a rerun. Not just for a good laugh, mind, but also the reassurance it gave that the proper useage of the English language remains in the good, protective, hands of the people who invented it.
