GOYFA adds premium service

BUSINESS NEWS:

The final demise of on-demand home-delivery start-up Milkrun has been welcomed by a Brisbane-based start-up about to launch its own unique service.

In fact, owner and CEO of the new firm GOYFA, Mal Vernstar, said he was undeterred by Milkrun’s collapse and was now planning to add a premium service to his market offering.

Milkrun which promised a 10-minute delivery deadline for customers ordering food, drink, groceries, or other items this week announced it was shutting its entire operation (below), joining other failed on-demand services such as Send, Voly, and Quicko who also promised fast delivery to inner-city customers from a fleet of bicycle couriers.

But Mr Vernstar said he was confident that his firm GOYFA would be “an outstanding success”.

“Milkrun and the others all employed a fleet of bike riders who were despatched from central hubs to collect and then deliver orders to a customer’s door and meet a very short deadline which is a very labour-intensive and costly business model,” he said.

“The key to our success is in the GOYFA name – an anagram for Get Off Your Fat Arse.

“GOYFA riders (main picture) don’t waste time hanging around waiting for food to be cooked or for grocery orders to be filled before heading to a customer’s door.

“Instead, as soon as they are called, they ride quickly to a customer’s door and hand over local maps or address lists for nearby supermarkets and shops, as well as take-away menus of local eateries.

“Our riders then simply tell a customer to ‘get off your fat arse’ and walk or drive to the shops themselves and pick up their own order.

“In addition, we will soon be offering a premium GOYFA service that involves our riders using a megaphone and telling clients: ‘Get off your fat arse you fucking lazy bastard.’

“The premium service will also see customers handed brochures for local gyms or personal trainers so that they can get fit enough to actually walk to their local shops,” Mr Vernstar said.
