MIAMI, FLORIDA: Barron Trump, the teenage son of former US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania, has still not been located despite a wide search being conducted in and around the family’s home inside the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida over the past few days.
Barron, who turns 17 on 20 March, always maintained a low profile after his father was elected in 2016 and has been largely out of the public eye since Donald Trump lost the 2020 election.
But his family became concerned when he was nowhere to be found at Mar-a-Lago almost a week ago.
A source within the resort, which was photographed (main picture) just yesterday by The Bug’s Miami bureau, said there had been speculation that Barron’s absence indicated his unhappiness at his father’s decision to enter the 2024 US presidential race.
“Everyone who works here knows Barron doesn’t necessarily agree with his father’s views and finds life at Mar-a-Lago somewhat restrictive,” the source said.
“Some of us who work at Mar-a-Lago think he has deliberately gone missing to send a signal that he is wanting to break free from his parents.
“His birthday is coming up soon and apparently he asked Melania specifically if his presents could include a shovel and a strap-on headlamp and if he could be given them well before his actual birthday.
“He’s also been spending a lot of time by himself in his room watching and rewatching The Great Escape.
“In addition, he’s been surfing the internet for information on so-called emancipation laws, legal provisions in each US state under which children can ‘divorce’ their parents,” the source said.
Florida Police said they were continuing investigations to determine Barron’s whereabouts.
Donald Trump issued a statement via his Truth Social platform saying he blamed “imposter president and sex pest Joe Biden” for “kidnapping” Barron and taking him to “the child sex den run in the basement of a New York pizza shop by crooked Hillary Clinton”.
Mr Trump also alluded to the involvement of Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, in Barron’s presumed disappearance.
