Bet-shy Liberals slammed!

An angry Simon Benson has ripped into Liberal and National Party voters for not showing their support for Premier Dominic Perrottet’s excellent future-fund plan for kids by “opening their wallets and having a big flutter on Dom’s much-deserved re-election”.

Benson is The Australian newspaper columnist recently appointed chair of a steering committee created by all the MSM outlets operating in NSW to coordinate their efforts to ensure the return of the LNP in just 11 days time.

Benson (pictured recently addressing a meeting of top MSM editors and producers) was the unanimous choice for the position following the recent news detailing his heavy involvement as one of the nation’s most senior, highly respected and independently minded journalists in ensuring the illegal RoboDebt non-debt recovery scheme killed as many innocent Australians as possible.

Benson this morning said he was very concerned that online betting markets had not moved “one bloody jot” since the LNP’s weekend campaign launch at which the Premier pledged to pop $400 into special accounts for all NSW kids aged 10 and under, and to continue to do that every year until they are 18 provided parents match that annual amount.

The Bug points out that the highly respected scribe is spot on. The six online bookies we are monitoring for the election have not changed their odds since last Friday. Averaged, they have Labor at $1.20 and the LNP at $4.20.

“What on earth is wrong with LNP supporters,” Benson lamented.

“This $400 a year is an excellent policy from a government that truly deserves a fourth term in office.

“Rich families especially are going to benefit the most from this excellent plan. I know Dom and his Catholic siblings are set to clean up big time. That extended family on its own could just about bankrupt the scheme!”

Benson said he was gobsmacked that LNP supporters had not grabbed very lucrative prices for a two-horse race, the best this morning being Bet365’s $4.50 for the LNP and $1.16 for Labor.

“C’mon people. $4.50! It’s fruit for the sideboard!

“Momentum is everything at the moment and seeing the odds on Dom really starting to drop and the race tightening would send voters a clear message and be a major fillip for our MSM partners’ endeavours.

“We can’t just rely on the widespread coverage that will be given to the Premier’s big, big, wins over Minns in Nine’s leaders debate tomorrow night and the SkyNews debate next Thursday!”

“And if we leave it to another dodgy Newspushpoll on election eve, it could be too late!”

On a brighter note, Mr Benson one again praised all the MSM partners for their polished and professional approach as they strived to achieve the Right outcome for NSW on 25 March.

“It’s particularly pleasing to see that The Daily Telegraph is not doing all the heavy lifting now,” he said.

The Weekend Australian‘s magazine’s big spread on Dom and his family (below), the creampuff Deborah Snow piece that led last Saturday’s SMH Review section (below) and Peter Overton’s long interview on Channel 9 with Dom and his family were all brilliant.

“I’m looking forward to all their similar treatments on Labor leader Chris Minns in the days ahead,” Benson said as he tried valiantly to suppress a chortle.
