Odds remain a worry, Simon says

The man charged with overseeing the mainstream media’s campaign to have the NSW LNP government of Premier Dominic Perrottet re-elected later this month is becoming increasing worried that more needs to be done “to give Dom and his team a much-deserved fourth term”.

These worrying words come from Simon Benson, The Australian newspaper columnist recently appointed chair of a steering committee created by those MSM outlets to coordinate their efforts to ensure the return of the LNP.

Benson (at top, recently addressing a meeting of top MSM editors and producers) was the unanimous choice for the position following the recent news detailing his heavy involvement as one of the nation’s most senior and respected journalists in ensuring RoboDebt killed as many innocent Australians as possible.

“The online betting company odds being offered on Dom and his team being re-elected have certainly improved since the Roy Morgan and Newspoll results last week showing the Labor Party’s two-party lead has been reduced to 52-48 as it deserved to be.

“I’m grateful that LNP true believers are now having a flutter and the LNP odds that ranged from $4.75 to $5.50 a week ago are now between $3.60 and $4.50.

“But the odds on Labor are still three times better than for the LNP and that is truly worrying in a two-horse race.

“We’ve got to keep getting those odds down to create the illusion that Dom’s in with a real chance three and a bit weeks from now. We can’t just rely on all our MSM partners to get this job done!”

Benson once again singled out The Daily Telegraph for “the brilliant journalism being undertaken there to see the Right result on 25 March”. He called on other MSM outlets to “match their amazing efforts”.

“The journalists at the Tele – writers, subs, artists – must be immensely proud of the effort they are putting in,” he said.

“The voters of NSW who largely get their politics news from the Tele could easily be led to believe the LNP was the only political group contesting the election.

“I know Ben [Ben English, The Daily Telegraph editor] is very, very, proud of the ethical, balanced, professional journalism his troops are pumping out right now to try to achieve the level playing field that is the basis of our entire democratic process.”
