It was only The Australian being The Australian after all – i.e, anything but a professional, ethical, newspaper striving for journalistic excellence – but, boy, oh, boy, did its weekend splash defending the indefensible Linda Reynolds spark a Twitter firestorm!

Our tweet-of-the-week judges have never seen so many on the Twitterspectrum so fucking upset, but especially this week’s winner, Viktor (above and below).

Before we run other great responses to this piece of LNP PR rubbish that had no other real purpose than to maybe keep Reynolds out of jail down the track and trying to damage Brittany Higgins’ character in the process, take a gander at The Australian‘s own tweet promoting their exclusive … well, exclusive in the sense that no real, self-respecting, newspaper would have had a bar of it.

Yep, everyone here at The Bug has no fucking idea why a Carla Zampatti jacket defines a gap in any fucking thing let alone ‘the Higgins saga’ and we’re not prepared to have all the parts of our brains that control logical, fair thought and reasoned decency removed just so we can possibly even begin to understand it.
Running Viktor a very close second with some clever words that weren’t anywhere near as fucking rude were Sygent Symies and Andrew Gardiner, the latter poking fun at the Daily Mail for joining in on the Higgins pile-on and paying homage to a Ronni Salt comment in the process.

janine gebert also gave the Daily Mail a spray when responding to a tweet from Brittany Higgins’ boyfriend.

Some of The Weekend Australian‘s entry for this year’s Booker prize for fiction centred on why Reynolds was in no fit state to contest Higgins’ defamation action for being called a lying cow.
Su Dharmapala Votes Yes etc, etc, had this to spray…

…while Sally Lawry clearly didn’t feel at all sorry for the poor woman being in no state to defend herself…

Respected retired newspaper columnist Terry Sweetman summed up the Reynolds interview with the Weekend Oz succinctly and rather well…

Let’s finish off with Cara Mia’s wonderful description of Reynolds being this week’s #MurdochsProtectedTory…..

… and our old friends MFW with the question on everyone’s chapped lips, one hopefully the National Anti-Corruption Commission would consider a red-hot certainty for its first investigation.
