An honour to serve: Benson

The Australian newspaper’s Simon Benson has been appointed chair of a steering committee that has just been created by all mainstream media outlets operating in NSW as a clear sign of their steely determination to see the return of Premier Dominic Perrottet’s LNP state government.

“It’s an absolute honour to be given the chance to serve in this position,” Benson told The Bug this morning.

This newspaper understands Benson was the unanimous choice for the position following the recent news detailing his heavy involvement as one of the nation’s most senior and respected journalists in ensuring Robodebt killed as many innocent Australians as possible.

“Of course The Australian is only a small player in the upcoming campaign – we’ve got so few readers and they wouldn’t vote for that commie Minns [Opposition Leader Chris Minns] in a month of Sundays anyway – but it means I’ll have the time to coordinate our campaign to ensure a fair and just election with the right outcome,” Benson told us.

“We must all strive to keep this great state free from the clutches of woke, inner-city, latte-sipping, business-hating, unionised socialists.

“The heavy hitters will have to be The Daily Telegraph and the Sky News Channel from NewsCorp and of course the Herald mastheads, The Australian Financial Review, Channel 9 and of course 2GB and 2UE from the Nine stable, and naturally enough the Seven and 10 Networks will also be giving it their all.

“The ABC only has observer status on the steering committee but I’m sure they’ll be doing their bit in their own way,” Benson said with a knowing wink.

Benson said all those media groups were acutely aware of the difficult task ahead of them.

“The bookies have more or less written off Dom and his team and the polls remain woeful,” he admitted.

“Our first duty as professional journalists is to work hard to reduce Labor’s primary vote until it’s the same as the LNP’s, thus creating the level-playing field that is the bedrock of the Australian electoral system.

“Once we’ve achieved that by highlighting the many gaffes Minns will make from day one of the campaign proper, we can then run hard on the proven Coorey/Uhlmann principle, the one that totally ignores the Greens’ primary vote and warns of a hung parliament and electoral chaos unless the Dominic Perrottet government is returned for another deserved four-year term.

“To achieve that end, we’ve all got an enormous amount of work to do to praise the LNP in every waking moment, to pillory Minns and Labor at every turn!

“So, if anyone has some good dirt on Minns, please email me at The Australian with the details – and hopefully photos – and I’ll pass them on immediately to all our member news outlets including the ABC for an immediate and coordinated attack.

“Did he shoplift as a child? Did he cheat at school? Was he a bully who stole other kids’ lunches? Does he have some disgusting personal habit? Has his wife ever been in a car accident? Has he spent time down at the beach in a holiday rental with stairs? It doesn’t matter how many. How many times has his name been mentioned at ICAC?

“C’mon people … we badly need your help! The very future of NSW is at stake!”
