Going through the motions, yet again

Yet again our Media Glass House research teams feel it to be their necessary yet futile duty to point out News Crap Australia’s ongoing and total contempt for accepted journalistic standards.

They repeat their previous criticisms sparked by the publication in News Crap Australia media outlets of blatant plugs masquerading as “news” stories about the goings on at a News Crap Australia-related pay TV outfit Sky News.

This time it was the publication of a story – more accurately an advertorial if not an outright advertisement – in a range of News Crap Australia newspapers about the subscriber channel’s 2023 line-up. (main picture)

As usual, the story contained no disclosure of the commercial relationship between the newspaper and Sky News.

Our MGH researchers think that perhaps News Crap Australia believes readers should be able to work that link out for themselves.

Indeed, a quote from one Sky presenter contained in the story talks about Sky News being their “second home”. That would be because their first home is News Crap Australia where the particular Sky star is a political reporter.

Our MGH team acknowledge they have flogging this particular dead horse for some years now, but vow to continue going through the motions on behalf of The Bug’s readers.

Perhaps given the content of both Sky News and News Crap Australia papers they should rephrase that as a vow to continue wading through shit.

This item is about what could be described as just a small quibble, but we believe an important one.

The online version of a News Crap Australia publication gives readers the option of hitting a button on their screens that enables them to read more or less of its content. It’s more or less a well-accepted feature on many websites.

But in this case one of our MGH researchers continues to gripe about the wording used for one of the on-screen buttons in question. (below)

Perhaps, our researcher asks, someone at News Crap Australia could insist on the use of correct grammar and change the “show less stories” to “show fewer stories”? Just a suggestion.

Speaking of News Crap Australia, as we usually are, our attention was grabbed by a headline in The Courier-Mail on a story about “that” member of the British royal family who is causing such a commotion at the moment. (below)

Hands up anyone who gets the pun? Hmmmm, can’t see any hands up.

Oh, hang on, there are a few right at the back. Obviously well acquainted with Barbra Streisand’s oeuvre.
