Pope and Musk swap jobs

RELIGION:

Pope Francis has been named the new CEO of social media platform Twitter following the resignation of Elon Musk who will soon take up residency at the Vatican as leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk – soon to be Pope Elon 1 – has travelled to Rome where he is being briefed on his new role as spiritual head of the Catholic Church.

“His Holiness, Pope Elon is not making any public appearances until he can be fitted with papal robes, or as he now insists on calling them, PayPal robes,” a Vatican spokesperson said.

The  sudden job-swap follows revelations this week by Pope Francis that he had written and signed a letter of resignation soon after being elected as pontiff in 2013 following the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.

Vatican theological officials have since advised that the letter meant the Pope’s resignation actually took effect when he signed the letter, on the basis that whoever occupies the position of the Pope is considered infallible.

“His Holiness hadn’t planned on this sudden development,” a Vatican spokesperson said. “It appears he has given the church a huge headache to resolve.

“It seems we actually haven’t had a Pope since 2013 so we need to work through what that means in terms of any decisions and declarations he made.

“But we do look forward to the reign of Pope Elon who says he has many plans to modernise and reform the church, starting with an all-electric Popemobile.”

In San Francisco, the former Pope Francis said he planned to bring a new management style to Twitter starting with a ban on blasphemy on the platform and future plans to mandate the use of Latin in all Tweets.
