Twitterverse dumps on Gerard

Poor Gerard Henderson. It was probably the sort of wishy-washy, feelgood thing a silly old fossil from the cretinaceous period might utter to show how decent and fair-minded he is: namely we should always show respect for those who have attained high office in politics.

On that basis, and regardless of what we might think of Hitler, he was, after all, once Chancellor of Germany so kudos to him for that at least, huh?

Dear Gerard’s argument that Scott Morrison therefore deserved to be treated with respect at the Royal Commission into the Robodebt scheme because he was once PM met with great derision in the Twitterverse and our tweet-of-the-week judges thought Baron Gotcha summed up the mood with the strap across Henderson’s own tweet – No one deserves respect without first earning it.

And let’s be fair to Gerard who sees respect, dignity and balance as crucial parts of his stylish and studied personality. If roles were reversed and Scott Morrison had just finished his run as arguably the worst Labor PM in Australian history and had almost single-handedly brought Labor to its knees and possibly beyond redemption, Gerard would still have argued he should have been shown respect at the RC. (Readers are invited to insert sustained and loud canned laughter here).

Running Baron a very close second were marqueelawyers with this simple solution to the nation’s energy problems.

Apatheist pondered if the kind, thoughtful, balanced, fair, reasonable Gerard Henderson had much to say or saw any fault when this was happening during the last Parliament?

But then again, to be fair to Gerard Henderson as we always are, Tanya Plibersek hasn’t been PM…. yet.

Mark saw Smirko’s RC performance from a different angle…

…a point backed up by Doug Cameron with some interesting statistics.

Pepper Proud Sewer Rat focussed in on the RC to try to make Gerard see reason (good luck with that!) while Pamela reflected on Smoko/Smirko/ScumMo’s entire time as PM to try to make Gerard see reason (good luck with that!).

The decision by Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus to axe the Administrative Appeals Tribunal was welcomed by Paul Gruyters and some chap by the name of Mike Carlton.

Our judges were somewhat reluctant to run these two tweets, though, seeing both men showed a callous disregard for the future of Sophie Mirabella. Where else is the poor thing going to get a highly paid, permanent, job to see her through to her dotage?

We’re not exactly sure what particular utterance or stance by Angus Taylor sparked this rebuke from one of our favourite Tweeters, but take it away Bee! What a grand flourish at the end there!

timdunlop took a strong view on how the media covered the decision by the Albanese government to cap gas and coal prices…

…while Emma concludes this week’s column with a powerful and accurate dig at Newscorpse outlets that seemed to go out of their way to find excuses for why three inhuman arseholes had shot dead in a cold blooded ambush two young coppers and a civilian just trying to check on a neighbour.
