Mr Trump flew to New York City last night on his private jet from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida to speak at a “stop the steal” rally in Central Park.
He used his speech to attack a poll published this week by The Wall Street Journal showing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis beating him by 14 points as the Republican Party’s preferred 2024 presidential nominee. (pictured)
Mr Trump began his remarks with his by-now familiar attacks on “the fake news media” which he claimed still refused to truthfully report the strength of his popular support.

“We have hundreds of thousands of people here and I just want them to be recognised by the fake news media,” he told about two dozen people who had gathered to hear him, some of whom appeared to be joggers who stopped only briefly to listen before resuming their runs through Central Park.
Mr Trump went on to attack the WSJ poll, claiming the newspaper and DeSantis had “stolen” votes to arrive at the 52/38 split favouring the Florida Governor in the poll of likely Republican primary voters. He then urged the crowd to march on the Wall Street Journal and make their feelings known.
“After this, we’re going to walk down, and I’ll be there with you, we’re going to walk down to the Wall Street Journal,” he said.
“Because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong.
“We must stop the steal and then we must ensure that such outrageous polling fraud never happens again, can never be allowed to happen again,” he told the murmuring, shuffling, and shrinking crowd before thanking them for attending and leaving the stage.
Mr Trump was last seen in the back of a limousine eating a hamburger, swilling Coca-Cola and heading at speed to nearby Trump Tower.
Several of the crowd then marched more than 5km south from Central Park to Wall Street where they asked passers-by about the location of the Wall Street Journal offices, only to be told they were located more than 5km north on 4th Avenue not far from Central Park.
A New York City Police spokesperson said officers were called this morning to the WSJ newsroom where three men were asked to leave the premises which they did.
