Peter! Peter! Peter! What have you done?

The LNP’s Bowen Hills Branch has been at it again.

The Media Glass House will not be spending one red cent buying a copy of The Courier-Mail on Saturday but we’re inclined to accept social mediocre outrage from journos who used to work there that the 12-page wrap around was a total hatchet job on Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and her Labor government.

Here’s former long-term employee, famous sports journo Barry Dick, musing on Facebook:

We’ll give general support, wraparound sight unseen, to Barry’s view, seeing the MGH understands the wraparound’s author was rabid right-wing warrior Peter Gleeson. What a shame nominations have already closed for this year’s Gold Wankley.

Gleeso is the sort of Newscorpse scribe who would gladly pen an article saying the moon is made of cheese if he thought a certain flaccid-arsed, money-obsessed, ethics-challenged, nonagenarian cunt in New York held that view.

Although, to be fair as the MGH always strives to be, maybe a liftout of that size has provided plenty of rebuttal room from the Polish Princess and her ministers so there’s always a slim chance that happened. (insert prolonged and loud canned laughter here)

The bottom line is that The Courier-Mail and its sister Sunday stopped being newspapers a long time ago. Their coverage of the last three Queensland state elections exposed not only their complete lack of journalism ethics through their LNP lapdoggery but their total inability to sway public opinion.

The Bug for some years now has described what The Courier-Mail, The Sunday Mail and Murdoch’s other rotten rags around Oz are doing as committing long-term corporate suicide. The writing doesn’t have to be on the wall; it can be seen in the colours of the political maps, both state and federal, of our major capital cities.

The Liberal Party is in decline everywhere; in less than four weeks Daniel Andrews will paint the greater Melbourne area red despite the best efforts of the Herald Sun. And the clowns who run the two Brisbane monopoly mastheads seem oblivious to the fact that come the state election in 2024, Labor will have governed the state for 29 of the past 35 years. Constantly framing Labor voters as misled idiots who for some unfathomable reason can’t see the LNP as the natural party of good government would not make any sense whatsoever to anyone with half a brain.

Murdoch’s newspaper executives might have half a brain each but the organ is incapable of independent, logical thought.

Their thoughts controlled by that aforementioned cunt far, far away through some spooky form of mental osmosis, they will continue to campaign for the LNP, totally void of balance and fairness, determined to push right-wing claptrap to a dying audience.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

And speaking of stupid, it appears Peter Gleeson might have been rather naughty, if this tweet from Channel Nine’s Josh Bavas is any indication, as he recalls things he wrote about Jackie Trad several years ago for the ABC.

Ooh, wah! If it looks and walks and quacks like plagiarism, it probably is plagiarism. Back when The Courier-Mail and The Sunday Mail were newspapers, this apparent plagiarism would see a journalist censured or maybe even shown the door.

In Rupert’s world, it probably means Gleeson will get a pat on the back, a pay rise maybe to buy another nice shiny suit, and extra hours on SkyNews as he tag-teams with other right-wing nutjobs to parrot LNP talking points and slam Labor, be it at federal, state or local level, as the satanic woke beast that it is.
