FEDERAL POLITICS:
The Speaker of Federal Parliament, Milton Dick, has launched an inquiry into claims by the opposition parties that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese had “bullied” Queensland LNP MP, Michelle Landry.
“I have sought submissions from all of the participants in the exchange that occurred during Thursday’s question time and I hope to make my findings public as soon as possible,” Mr Dick said.
“Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s office has already provided me with what it claims is photographic evidence taken from the question time video allegedly showing the extent to which Ms Landry was affected by the PM’s answer to her question.
“But an initial comparison of the supplied photo and the original video suggests there may have been some alteration to the image. (main picture)
“To my untrained eye it looks as if another image – possibly a cropped photo of actor Toni Collette taken from a scene in Muriel’s Wedding – may have been crudely taped on top of the original image.
“However, I am refraining from making any final judgements until I have had the photo forensically analysed.”
Mr Dick said the Opposition Leader’s office had also claimed that a photo of the Liberal and National female MPs who supported Ms Landry at her emotional news conference following question time highlighted the impact of the PM’s actions.
“Again, I am not passing judgement at this stage, but I have detected the presence of a cut onion in the hand of the Liberal Party deputy leader Sussan Ley. (below) This photo too will be subjected to further forensic analysis.”

Mr Dick said he would release the findings of his inquiry as soon as possible.
Ms Landry told The Bug that should would be disappointed if the Speaker’s investigation did not find in her favour.
“As a woman I’m sure I’ll feel bad if that happens. Probably just as bad as I felt when that really good worker who loved working at Parliament House was sacked for filming himself wanking over a female MP’s desk last year,” she said.
