The formal commissioning of a new revolving door at 10 Downing Street (main picture) was the last official duty performed by outgoing UK Prime Minister Liz Truss prior to announcing her resignation.
Ms Truss was shown the door and cut the ribbon to declare it open just hours before reappearing outside the PM’s historic official residence to tell Britons she was stepping down.
A Downing Street insider told The Bug that Ms Truss was proud of the new door as it was the one and only concrete achievement she could point to during her prime ministership.
“She was going to mention the new door at length in her resignation speech but decided she should keep it very short, just like her prime ministership,” the source said.

Larry the Downing Street cat (pictured) is firming as favourite to take over from Liz Truss when Conservative Party MPs vote on a new leader and UK Prime Minister.

“Larry’s got what it takes,” a senior Tory MP who did not wish to be identified said.
“He was recently caught on security footage confronting and seeing off a fox that had roamed into Downing Street which bodes well for his handling of the Ukraine war.
“Like any cat, he is invariably an island of calm in the always turbulent seas of UK politics which will appeal to voters, the party rank and file, and business and the finance markets.
“Plus he can lick his own genitals which will very much appeal to the jawless, kinky, closeted sex fiends who make up most of the parliamentary party,” the MP said.

A surprising number of previously little-known Conservative MPs are backing Boris Johnson to return to Downing Street.
They included four who actively sought out members of The Bug’s UK-based team of reporters to push their views including (pictured cloclockwise from top left) John Borison, Bo Risjohnson, Job Horissonn, and Sonny Borisjohn.

All three spoke separately to our reporters but made identical remarks.
“BoJo’s the right chap for the job, hey what!” they said. “He showed he had what it takes to lead a party in these challenging times.
“He also showed he had what it takes to lead the Conservative Party. I say! Huzza!”
