SYDNEY: A News Corp Australia journalist has been summarily sacked overnight and escorted from the Daily Telegraph building by security (above) after pitching a really stupid and rather naive story idea to his chief of staff.

The Bug understands that in a total and unforgiveable brain fade moment, the senior general news desk scribe suggested a story idea whereby a number of respected politics academics and leading psephologists would be asked their views on whether the Albanese Labor government would necessarily pay a heavy price electorally if it broke its promise over the third-stage income tax cuts.

Former colleagues stood at windows at the Holt Street building and sarcastically slow-clapped and jeered the paper’s former staffer, who is still to be identified, as he was bundled into a Uber.

“You fucking moron,” shouted one.

“Everyone already knows that the official Opposition line is that the breaking of that oft-repeated promise to keep the stage-three tax cuts would be the deathknell of the one-term Albanese government that is now being ripped apart by internal divisions over the issue and that every MSM politics writer and commentator around the nation agrees with that view,” screamed another.

“You of all people should have known how modern 21st Century journalism works in this country!” someone else called out.

“Go work for the Labor Party, you commie cunt,” added another.
