Our Media Glass House researchers often pause to marvel at the manner in which News Crap Australia outlets attract right-wing commentators and columnists like a magnet.
They assume everyone in the nation knows why – that News Crap Australia sees its mission in life as propping up or helping to elect right-wing politicians and governments.
Today’s edition of the Sydney turdbloid The Daily Telegraph offers proof of their theory by publishing a column by the National Party’s deputy leader in the Senate, Queensland Senator Matt Canavan. (main picture)
Those few remaining subscribers to Brisbane’s Courier-Mail will already be familiar with Senator Canavan who is given a fortnightly column in the Brisbane turdbloid to air his right-wing rants and ravings.
To be fair, our MGH teams do point out that Senator Canavan’s column is balanced every other week by one penned by former state Labor Party cabinet minister Robert Schwarten who never takes a backward step when responding to anything the good Senator may say.
Their ideological duelling is often a source of great entertainment.
But today’s Daily Tele piece by Senator Canavan seems to serve no real purpose.
It is all about the late Queen Elizabeth II and her deep Christian faith.
Having a deep Christian faith is no crime of course and Her Majesty would occasionally, indeed only very occasionally, reference hers.
Senator Canavan’s column makes the point that the Queen usually referred to her faith once a year in her Christmas message.
In that sense she was very different to the cavalcade of right-wing politicians who insist on shamelessly presenting themselves as Christians – Senator Canavan included and a certain former PM we all know.
If you wish to see the end result of this type of right-wing moralising self-promotion – with the help of a large right-wing media organisation – just take a peek at the state of the United States.
Our MGH teams wonder why Senator Canavan, instead of trying to stitch himself to the Queen’s beliefs in a transparent effort to gain some reflected glory, did not take the opportunity of using his column space in a major metro turdbloid to laud Her Majesty’s commitment to battling climate change. She made no secret of her strong views on that topic.
Perhaps his copy was edited for length and that part was dropped?
In the interests of full disclosure we state that our MGH teams insisted on adding the halo to Senator Canavan in the graphic above.

Speaking of the Daily Tele, have you ever wondered why politicians are generally held in very low regard by the voting public?
Here’s a clipping from the paper that may help you formulate an answer.

It appeared in the Murdoch turdbloid this week and outlined plans by the Albanese Government to rearrange the sitting calendar for Federal Parliament to accommodate events surrounding the Queen’s death, including the Prime Minister’s need to attend her funeral in London on Monday.
So is “bludge” the proper word to use in the context of a decision to postpone a sitting week and slot it in as soon as possible somewhere else in the calendar?
Our MGH teams think it’s a case of overreach and also wonder whether the same approach would have been taken if Scott Morrison or another right-winger had made the same decision.

Remember the good old days of the COVID pandemic when News Crap Australia outlets fell over themselves to put Victorian Premier Dan Andrews on their front pages just to tear strips off him.
Anyone recall Dictator Dan? Of course you do, as do we.
But how times have changed now that it appears clear that Andrews will be re-elected when Victorians go to the polls in November.
At the moment that appears to be the likely outcome despite, or maybe because of, News Crap Australia’s vicious and blatantly partisan campaigning against him.
Today’s copy of the national broadshit The Australian shows how times have changed.
Buried on page 5 is a story pointing to an Andrews triumph come November. (below)

Our MGH teams do point out that it always helps if a state premier or prime minister has a totally unelectable idiot shithead as an opponent, as does Dan.
Although that won’t prevent the Murdoch media urging a vote for the Liberals in November and using their editorial pages to campaign for their favoured party.
