Johnson rejects Stewart’s claims

Boris Johnson has denied claims by a former Conservative Party minister that he plans to “do a Berlusconi” and engineer a path back to 10 Downing Street after quitting as UK Prime Minister.

Rory Stewart who ran against Mr Johnson in the 2019 leadership contest has declared Mr Johnson as unfit to lead the UK but has warned of a plan for Mr Johnson to return as PM. (below)

He has likened the possibility to the tactics used by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, now 85, who is toying with yet another campaign to secure his former job after previously leading the nation on three separate occasions from 1994 to 2011.

At a Downing Street news conference, Mr Johnson (main picture) dismissed Mr Stewart’s claims.

“Signore Stewart is way off beam with that suggestion. In fact you could say he is pazzo,” he said while making a circular motion with a forefinger against his right forehead.

“I’m looking forward to leaving Dieci Downing Strada and enjoying la dolce vita with my compagna Carrie and our bambino after so many years in office.”

Mr Johnson cut short the news conference saying he had a “bunga bunga party” to attend in the back garden of his official residence.

Federal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has lambasted the Albanese Government for taking so long to complete its first 100 days in office.

Following Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s address to the National Press Club this week marking the milestone, Mr Dutton said the speech was proof of the Labor Party government’s own failure.

“I can’t believe – and I’m sure most Australians can’t believe – that the Albanese Government has taken three months to reach its first 100 days in office,” Mr Dutton said.

“I said the Albanese Government would fail and this is just further proof.”

Mr Dutton promised that when he was elected prime minister at the 2025 election he would be reaching his first 100 days in office in at least half the time Mr Albanese had taken.
