STANDUP COMEDY:

As soon as The Bug‘s senior staff stopped rolling around the floor laughing after reading George Brandis’s article in yesterday’s edition of The Sydney Morning Herald, we immediately booked an intimate functions room at the White Cockatoo Hotel in Petersham, Sydney.

The reason: we knew by the way Brandis talked up Peter Dutton that the former Australian attorney-general and high commissioner to Britain was a natural standup talent and we begged him to try out the same material before a small but dedicated audience to prove our theory.

He asked whether he could add some racist material to his set and we said: “Why not, everyone’s entitled to be a bigot!”
