Just a few months into his job as federal Opposition Leader, Peter Dutton has denied running out of ideas to offer Australians or that he is already relying too heavily on stunts, cheap point-scoring, and being too negative by simply opposing anything the Albanese Government does.
Mr Dutton’s office hurriedly called a news conference this morning at which the Liberal Party leader was joined by former Hollywood heartthrob actor Ryan O’Neal, Australian stand-up comedian Dave O’Neil, and US TV actor Ed O’Neil who appeared as his best-known character Al Bundy.
At a news conference after the meeting (main picture) Mr Dutton said he had discussed the proposed voice to Federal Parliament by First Nations with the three celebrities.
“I had a very fruitful discussion with the three O’Neals and O’Neils,” he said.
“I stress that I had three O’Neals and O’Neils – that’s three, count ’em – unlike someone else who could manage just one.
“We had a lengthy discussion about the voice concept for First Nations and I have come away with some good ideas.
“I now plan to consider all of the points made by the three O’Neals and O’Neils – that’s three, count ’em.
“I do admit that Ryan and Ed were not as familiar with the proposal as Dave. But still, they all made some very valid points.
“Australians can rest assured that I will genuinely assess the issues raised at today’s meeting before, as Opposition Leader, I reach my carefully considered decision to outright oppose the voice in its entirety and to do all I can to see any upcoming referendum go down in a screaming heap,” Mr Dutton said.
