One story dominated the Twitterverse this past week: the news that the then skipper of the good ship Australia, Captain Scott Morrison, was also the vessel’s 2IC, bosun, navigator, engineer, deck hand and cook.

And perhaps the even bigger news was that Captain Morrison thought that the news that he and his entire crew (himself) had steered that ship through treacherous COVID waters, thus saving 40,000 lives, would endear him anew to his fellow Australians who had demanded far too much of him in the first place.

Picking a winner from all that was not easy but our judges settled on the simply observed efforts of Dr Sheep Person aka Underclass Prole @noplacefor sheep (above and below) who pretty much summed up Captain Morrison’s priorities while at the nation’s helm.

Smiffy ex union thug @iborgward was one of many who used imagery to show just how hard Smoko had tirelessly and selflessly worked on all our behalves, especially in the later years of the 46th Parliament….

While Mav @mavtchi pondered on what a group of ministers should be known as from now on.

Peter Murphy @PeterWMurphy1 saw fresh reasons why Grace Tame should side-eye Smirko and how SkyNews would react to that.

Lezleemac @lezleemac riffed on that claim of Smirko’s that he had saved 40,000 lives while Nanna.(Heather)fairness justice with Labor @NannaBay made a rather nasty comparison.

Meanwhile, Philip Atkinson @PhilipA29893172 and David Sharaz @SharazDavid were fairly direct on the direction ex-captain Morrison should now take…. a long walk on a short plank in, we guess, Sharkies-infested waters.

Solo Monk @JJKALE2 took a wider view of the whole bizarre event….

Taking a far more serious stance as would be expected from one of the nation’s finest and most forthright elders was Everald Compton @EVERALDATLARGE with this pithy observation of where Australian politics stands right now.

Of course, no edition of Tweets of the Week should be allowed to sail by without a mention of the other “leader” who has made the LNP federally what it is today. So let’s have a double dip from Dr Sheep Person aka Underclass Prole @noplaceforsheep.
