… as far as we know!
As all you Buggers out there know, The Bug’s Media Glass House refuses to bang on endlessly about the same topic which is …. oh fuck it, who are we trying to kid!
Midweek, the MGH reported on the number of mainstream mediocre outlets who were themselves banging on relentlessly about growing calls – plural – for the mendacious, muddling, mediocre moron Scott Morrison to resign.
After we had uploaded that yarn, right on queue appeared Wednesday’s edition of The Sydney Morning Herald (two-page spread shown at top) which, you guessed it, banged on about growing calls for Smirko to go!
And guess what? In some 30 breathless pars, penned by three of the paper’s senior writers with help from two others, who were all these people making these growing calls for the Liar for the Shire to resign as the Member for Crook … sorry … Cook?
Not one, other than Karen Andrews. And as we pointed out on Wednesday, no professional mention of “other Morrison colleagues who spoke on the condition on anonymity” as the reasonable qualifier you’d expect from good journalists.
So let’s fast-forward to yesterday’s edition of the SMH which declared that only Karen Andrews had come forward publically to call on Smirko to quit.
Don’t get us wrong here at the MGH. We don’t mind at all that those who are left to try to resurrect the smouldering carcass of the Liberal Party aren’t screaming for Smoko’s immediate demise. More fool them because they should be.
And we know no-one on the left of politics who wants ScumMo gone. They’ll be delighted if he hangs around and stinks up the halls of Parliament right up until the next election.
Our beef remains with the mainstream mediocre. If calls are indeed growing for #scottiewas neverreallyfrommarketing to go, tell us who they are, one way or another.
Ply your craft with pride and professionalism.

Remember when News Crap Australia shut dozens of its regional hardcopy newspapers a few years back?
Remember when it promised to replace them with comprehensive regional coverage in its remaining print editions?
Our MGH researchers do. But they can’t reconcile that unmistakable promise with the minuscule, tokenistic efforts offered up in publications like The Courier-Mail in Brisbane (below) that each week tries to pass off a couple of usually – and preferably scandalous – court-based yarns as a “regional round-up”.

The clips shown here are the sum total of such “regional round-ups” in the past three Saturday editions of The Courier-Mail containing a grand total of six stories that we assume are meant to satisfy readers in Rockhampton and the Central Queensland region, the Sunshine Coast, and Mackay and the Whitsunday region.
Senior editorial staff of The Bug have had a word with our MGH researchers and told them not to take promises by News Crap Australia so literally in the future.
“Don’t be so fucking naive,” were the exact words used.

Speaking of The Courier-Mail, our same MGH researchers wish to draw the full page below in yesterday’s edition to the attention of fans of The Bug.

Their purpose in doing so? Simply to ask if readers agree that such a page – consisting entirely of an advertisement for sister paper’s the Sunday Mail’s annual foot race, a puff piece about the event encouraging entrants, and an advertisement for subscriptions to The Courier-Mail – should be badged as “news”.
Our researchers don’t think it appropriate. They also suggest that if asked, those responsible may well say that the badging is absolutely fitting because the page contains information about an event sponsored by News, as in News Crap Australia.
They admit that that potential response would be laughable if it were not also entirely possible.
