Shooting sparks call for FBI action

In the wake of the FBI’s raid on his home and the primary defeat of his staunchest critic Liz Cheney, former US President Donald Trump has taunted both her and the agency by shooting dead a tourist from the Democratic Party-dominated state of Oregon who was visiting Florida.

Mr Trump was seen this morning waving loaded revolvers in the Palm Beach business district near his Mar-a-Lago resort. (main picture)

As bystanders – locals and tourists alike – took shelter, the ex-President loudly reiterated a claim he has made previously – that he could walk onto Fifth Avenue in New York “and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters”.

“Well, I’m not in New York but let’s see what happens,” he added.

According to eyewitnesses, Mr Trump then asked several of the cowering tourists where they had come from.

As each one answered he claimed to have easily won their state at the 2002 US presidential election, even those states won by significant margins by President Joe Biden.

He finally took aim with both guns at a man who declared he was visiting Florida from Oregon.

“Too bad, hippie,” Mr Trump said as he pumped at least 12 bullets into the man. “Also too bad you’re not from Wyoming and called Liz.”

As his guns ran out of ammunition he said: “Now let’s see what the FBI does about that.

“By the way, I won Oregon in a landslide. Yuge landslide. Oh yeah. But I bet it’ll be even bigger in 2024 after this. You betcha.”

Speaking immediately after the shooting, Florida’s Republican Party Governor, Ron DeSantis, said he knew nothing of the circumstances surrounding the killing, but added that Mr Trump’s action did not fall within the jurisdiction of the FBI.

“I am certain that once I have been briefed on the shooting I will find that it is clearly a case of self-defence,” Governor DeSantis said.

“I’m sure Mr Trump was also simply doing what he was entitled to do, that is to exercise his Second Amendment rights.

“So there’s no need for any action by the FBI or Florida state authorities against the ex-Pres…., I mean the current President in Exile.

“I have, however, instructed Florida State Police to advise the FBI that it needs to bring posthumous charges against the deceased tourist for stealing property belonging to Mr Trump – namely the bullets – and transporting them across state lines to Oregon as part of his funeral arrangements.”
