Newcomer sets stage alight

The Bug is proud to feature an up-and-coming standup comedian who we believe will make the likes of Jimeon, Dave Hughes and Wil Anderson very nervous indeed.

This performance overnight by Professor Stephen Fogarty is all the more remarkable as it’s a late-career move from a life of Christian academic service, culminating in his current role as president of the large evangelical college Alphacrucis College in Parramatta, Sydney.

The college’s mission is “Equipping Christian leaders to change the world” but maybe be that should be “quipping” because Professor Stephen Fogarty has slayed them in the aisles at nearby Parramatta Bowls Club with material first used in a Sydney Morning Herald comment piece earlier this week.

And The Bug can attest to the fact that Professor Fogarty is even funnier live than in print, as hard to believe as that may be.
